At Engineering the Earth, our Civil Design practice is driven by a commitment to engineering resilient, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions for both public agencies and private clients. Through the combined expertise of Civil Solutions (CSA) in the Midwest and Eastern Sierra Engineering (ESE) in the West, we provide a full range of civil engineering services that support community infrastructure, private development, and environmental stewardship.

Our civil design services include:

• Municipal Infrastructure: Roadway reconstruction, complete streets, ADA-compliant pedestrian facilities, and drainage improvements.
   
• Private Development: Site planning, grading, utility coordination, and permitting for residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
   
• Stormwater Management: Comprehensive drainage studies, storm drain network design, and sustainable stormwater solutions including LID features.
   
• Utility Design: Water, sewer, and dry utility infrastructure for public systems and private developments.
   
• Transportation Engineering: Roadway and airport landside design, multimodal transportation facilities, and access/circulation improvements.
   
• Recreation Facilities: Parks, trails, open space enhancements, and recreational site infrastructure planning and design.
   
• Construction Support: Preparation of construction documents, bid support, cost estimating, and construction-phase engineering services. 

 Eastern Sierra Engineering (ESE) delivers Civil Design services throughout the Western United States, led by Christopher Schmitt, P.E., Vice President of Civil Engineering. Based in the unique mountain and desert environments of Nevada and California, ESE brings deep experience in complex site development, transportation projects, stormwater management, and recreation facilities. Our Western team emphasizes environmentally responsible solutions and resilient design approaches tailored to the demanding conditions of the region.
