ESE Materials Testing
Eastern Sierra Engineering provides construction materials testing (CMT) services for a wide range of public agencies and infrastructure projects throughout Nevada, including the RTC, City of Reno, TMWA, NDOT, FHWA, FAA, and numerous counties and municipalities. Our experience spans roadways, airfields, parks, stormwater systems, utilities, and site development, supporting both design and construction phases.
We have developed and implemented a rigorous quality control program to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of all testing results, while maintaining the highest standards of service in the field. Our team works closely with project owners, engineers, and contractors to deliver timely reporting and responsive support throughout construction.
Our technicians are among the most qualified in the region, holding certifications including NAQTC, ACI, and Nuclear Gauge, and are highly experienced in applying NDOT, ASTM, and AASHTO testing standards. With extensive involvement in utility and large-scale transportation projects across northern Nevada, ESE delivers dependable testing services that help ensure compliance, performance, and long-term project success.
ESE Certified Laboratories
We maintain two permanent construction materials testing laboratories and two mobile materials testing laboratories for use in remote areas. Our Reno laboratory is AASHTO accredited, Caltrans certified, and fully equipped to perform all testing required for water system related projects including soils, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete testing. Our Bishop laboratory is also Caltrans certified. Maintaining materials laboratories in Reno and Bishop provides resource sharing which significantly increases our capacity. We also have multiple individuals trained and certified in materials testing which allows for multishifts and optimizes the use of equipment.
Our laboratories commonly perform over 40 asphalt concrete mix designs
each year and have tested millions of tons of mix over the years. We pride
ourselves in our immediate response to requests for services and in the
precision of our results.
ESE Special Inspections
Eastern Sierra Engineering provides code-required Special Inspections in accordance with the International Building Code (IBC), supporting structural and building projects throughout construction. Our ICC-certified inspectors deliver independent, third-party verification to ensure that critical structural elements are installed in compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
Our team is qualified to perform special inspections for a wide range of materials and systems, including reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, structural masonry, structural steel, and spray-applied fire-resistive materials (SFRM). We coordinate closely with building officials, design teams, and contractors to facilitate efficient inspections, maintain project schedules, and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
With a strong understanding of construction practices and regulatory requirements, ESE provides reliable, timely inspection services that support project compliance, safety, and long-term performance.
